Modeling earthmoving operations in real time using hybrid fuzzy simulation

Predicting and optimizing performance in earthmoving operations is critical, because they are essential to many construction projects. The complexity of modeling remains challenging, even with several techniques available, including simulation. This paper advances the state-of-the-art by introducing a hybrid fuzzy system dynamics–discrete event simulation framework capacity to: capture dynamism operations; subjective uncertainty factors affecting them; model their sequential nature resource constraints; determine actual travel time, real using online navigation systems. Findings from this research confirm proposed (i) extends application for processes involving dynamic input variables uncertainty, through its ability non-probabilistic systems, (ii) when combined use systems assess trucks’ improves accuracy operation models.
